In what’s turning into a she said, she said war of words, Wendy Williams has hit back at Gayle King’s claims that Wendy Williams lied about receiving a letter from Oprah and says that she has no reason to lie.
Wendy called into the Tom Joyner Morning Show, the same show Gayle called into, and says that she received a letter from a Chelsea Hettrick twice.
“She [Chelsea] sent it the first day, and then she sent another one with different writing the second day. I have no reason to lie about this,” Wendy said during her phone call with host Tom Joyner.
Wendy said she read the first letter, in which Oprah told her to ‘Stay Black’ live during the November 25th show, “and the only thing I changed was I put ‘Love, Oprah’ at the end.”
“At the top of reading the letter – go back to the show; it’s on TV … I said, ‘Well, I got a letter from Oprah. Okay, it’s not exactly Oprah; it’s from her staff.’ But it’s Oprah’s show, so I’m assuming Oprah knew,” Wendy explained.
She added, “When correspondence goes out on this show, especially pertaining to something like if somebody were to say something or whatever, my name is on the outside of this building, and my name is on the marquee. I know what goes on here! You could not imagine that this woman just sent the letter out on her own accord.”
But Gayle says Oprah never sent anything to Wendy. She said when she asked Oprah about the letter her BFF replied, “Gayle, you, more than anybody knows that that’s not true.”
Perhaps Oprah will call into Tom Joyner and set the record straight once and for all.
