Rihanna performed at Baku Crystal Hall in Azerbaijan, this in spite of pleas from Amnesty International not to.
The singer thrilled fans with her hits including S&M, Only Girl (In The World) and What’s My Name but did not perform Diamonds, the first single off her upcoming seventh album.
Human rights group Amnesty International along with Azerbaijan’s Sing for Democracy sent a joint letter to Rihanna and Shakira urging them not to perform in the former Soviet republic due to their continued human rights violations which includes an increased arrest of journalists and pro-democracy activists.
Not surprisigly Rihanna went ahead with her scheduled performance but Shakira has not indicated whether she will cancel her performance during FIFA’s under 17 women’s world cup.
