Christmas won’t be so merry for Mary J. Blige. That’s because the award-winning singer has been hit with a lawsuit for defaulting on a$2.2 million bank loan.
Signature Bank filed the suit in New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan and is seeking to recoup the original loan plus $58,000 in interest.
According to court documents, Mary and her husband Kendu Isaacs (referred to as Martin Isaacs in court papers) took out the loan in October of 2011 and defaulted in July 2012. Mary’s production company Mary Jane Productions Inc. is also named in the suit.
Neither Mary’s lawyer nor her publicist would comment.
Earlier this year Mary’s charity The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now Inc, was accused of mishandling funds and cheating scholarship students.
