Mary J. Blige says she’s looking on the bright side after having a few days to reflect on her song The Living Proof being overlooked for an Academy Award nomination.
On Tuesday’s Watch What Happens Live! Mary told host Andy Cohen that while she still doesn’t understand why the Academy chose to only nominate two songs this year, she’s moving on to better things.
“I’m confused. I don’t know what to say except for I just gotta keep doing what I do and look at this as a battery in my back to just keep striving and that’s it and just be thankful for the lesson, count it as a blessing.”
“I think the lesson is to just keep going. Don’t let things make you spiral down cos it hit hard, it was kinda rough. You just gotta look at the positive side and the positive side is that there’s obviously something better for me.”
She also thanked Kelly Ripa who made her feel right at home on the set of Live With Kelly just hours after the announcement where she co-hosted and performed The Living Proof.
But the funniest bit of the night had to be when a fan asked Mary if she had any work done.
See what Mary had to say in the clips below.
