After turning them down for the last 15 years Janet Jackson finally performed at the Essence Music Festival this year.
“They’ve asked me for a while to be a part of the festival and my schedule never really permitted it”
Before performing at the festival Jackson sat down with Richelle Carey of HLN at the Festival where she also performed to chat about her upcoming role in Tyler Perry’s “For Colored Girls,” her childhood and her passion for acting and of course love:
I can’t do without it. I love love and I cant live without it and that’s what I’ve learned from my family from my friends from my…special person in my life. I love love
She goes on to talk about making movies which she says provides more of a challenge for her than singing and dancing and her views on kids in the industry:
“A kid should have a life. They should enjoy their childhood. You only get one. Maybe when they turn 18, if that’s what they want to go into, then that’s on them,”
