Chris Brown has dropped some new deets on his upcoming sixth album X and it sounds like Chris has finally ditched autotunes at least on the first single Fine China.
Fine China was co-written with Diplo, Sevyn, Roccstar and Eric Bellinger and Chris says he went for a nostalgic sound on the soulful track which was produced by Roccstar and PK.
“For the first single, I wanted to go more nostalgic, bring Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Sam Cooke to it, but also bring a new sound to what my audience and fans are listening to,” he said. “For this album, I wanted to have the same mentality as I did with the first album — me being green, me not thinking I know what’s hot and what’s next, me just being Chris Brown. I think this will show my vocal ability a lot more. I’ve developed a falsetto, I can sing at a higher register, and I can elaborate more on my skill.”
X will also feature Kendrick Lamar on Autumn Leaves; production by Danja on another track called Add Me; Lady in Glass Dress produced by Camper co-penned by Sam Hook and the title track X was produced by Diplo and penned by Chris, Roccstar, Sevyn and Dewaine Whitmore Jr.
Chris also dropped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest to chat about the new album and his girlfriend Rihanna whom he says he’s “eternally grateful” to for giving him a second chance.
“I just tried my best to be the best man I could be over the years and just show her how remorseful and sorry I was for the incident,” he explained. “She’s a wonderful person and I’m eternally grateful.”
So what about those recent photos of Chris and Jennifer Lopez in the studio? Chris says, “I’m trying to get her on my album. I have a couple songs that would be incredible for her to feature on, but as of now I’m just in the studio writing for hers.”
