The 2012 American Music Awards rook place last night in L.A. and as usual featured some interesting and lackluster performances.
Usher kicked things off as he huffed and puffed his way through a medley of his hits including “Numb,” ”Climax” and “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” on a stage filled with green lasers and smoke. He later picked up an award for favorite soul/R&B male artist
Justin Bieber performed an acoustic version of “As Long As You Love Me” before teaming up with Nicki Minaj on “Beauty and A Beat” and while accepting one of his three awards thanked his “haters” – not sure who they are though.
MC Hammer made his return joining internet sensation PSY to perform “Gangnam St” and “Too Legit to Quit.”
Nicki performed her new single “Freedom” in all white and won favorite rap/hip-hop while Beyoncé won a non-televised award for soul/R&B female artist.
